Former Chairwoman of the Liberal Party Mrs. Chow was also a member of the Executive Council of Hong Kong and the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. She was the fourth chairperson of the Liberal Party. She is also well known in Hong Kong for her career in broadcasting.

Film Director She is a HK actress, director, producer and occasional screenwriter. She is one of the most critically acclaimed filmmakers amongst the Hong Kong New Wave, known for her (at times) controversial films about social issues in HK

Former Vice-President of HKU; Former Dean of Faculty of Medicine She is currently an Emeritus Professor of the Department of Medicine in HKU. She was the first female being the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in HKU.

Former President of the Legislative Council She was the President of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (LegCo) after the transfer of sovereignty in 1997.  She was the first woman to hold that position. She is also a member of the Hong Kong delegation to the 11th National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China.

Film Director She was elected “Freshman’s Queen” when she was an undergraduate at HKU. Her films include the “migration trilogy”: Illegal Immigrant (1985), An Autumn’s Tale (1987), Eight Taels of Gold (1989) and The Soong Sisters (1997).

Former Chief Secretary Mrs. Chan was also an elected member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong for Hong Kong Island between 2007 and 2008.
